If you have lived in Orlando for a while, you’ve probably
been to the Bob Carr. Nice but nothing to write home about. Well…. It has been
replaced. Orlando is now the proud owner of a magnificent building known as The
Doctor Phillips Center for the Performing Arts.
The building is huge and downright stunning in both the
lobby and stage. There are bars everywhere to help you wet your whistle before,
during, or after the show. It is definitely a place you could spend some time
in afterwards. I saw the Disney name
throughout the building… I don’t know how much they had to do with it, but
there was certainly a Disney touch vibe.
Oh and the staff??? Beyond compare. Never had such a polite and welcoming show
experience.
Now as for the seats, I really do not think there is a bad
one in the house. I saw Book of Mormon there a little over a week ago. We were
the last seats… all the way in the back row… and I could see everything. So
unless you are one of those that needs to see the actors’ face, save your money!!
You’ll be able to see and hear everything in those nosebleed seats. Plus you’ll
have that extra money for the bar!!
Another word of advice… unless you are on the ground floor…
reconsider your heel size. Or take the elevator. Five stories up and five
stories down in a pair of four inch peep toe sling backs…. Not my greatest idea.
As for the show, if you’ve wanted to see it… you definitely
should while they are here! It was hilarious and had me in tears from laughing
so hard. (By the way, they always sing about Orlando!! Woot woot!!) If you don’t
know about the show…. Research it before you go! It may not be up your ally; it
is a special kind of humor…. But… once again… totally worth it!
I would really love to see Wicked performed there. It would be WAY better than the Bob Carr. Hopefully it will bring a lot of new talent and shows to our magical city!
Great review!
